THE EVENT
Day 1. Welcome cocktail party in historic Coney Island. Guests were greeted by Luna Park’s fabulous Showtime characters. Canapes included smoked trout rillettes, Peking duck spring rolls, goat’s cheese mille feuille and bresaola with celeriac remoulade. A BBQ sausage sizzle was the highlight of the after party at The Deck.

Day 2. Conference in the Crystal Ballroom with opening address followed by a specially choreographed performance by Luna Park Showtime team which broke the ice!

Guests were transported by ferry to Sydney Aquarium for the evening’s networking.

Day 3. Conference in Crystal Ballroom with breakout sessions in Popcorn Hall. At 5pm there was a quick turnaround to convert the ballroom into the gala dinner venue, with entertainment at this event by the ever-popular John Fields Band. The conga line wound its way through the whole venue!

The banquet menu included curry leaf & chilli marinated prawns, tarragon & preserved lemon roast chicken and white peach panna cotta with champagne sorbet.

CHALLENGES: The first challenge was to convince the association to make a move from the Gold Coast which had been home to the conference for the last 15 years! As Luna Park has been attending the conference since 2004, they knew what the delegates expected and so briefed the sales team. Knowing that the budget was minimal, Luna Park also value-added by including complimentary appearances by their Showtime performers, hosting a BBQ sausage sizzle after the opening night reception and upgrading food and beverage selections.

The next challenge was that the event, surprisingly, had never been held at an amusement park even though this was its core business! Delegates wanted to go to the Gold Coast due to location of all the large amusement parks, so boutique Luna Park needed to impress.

RESULTS: Luna Park Sydney leveraged all elements of its business to create a truly unique experience for AALARA, and one that only Luna Park could deliver. This required seamless teamwork across five business units, creating an experience that amalgamated Luna Park Sydney’s traditional amusement park with its award-winning events and catering business.

Various unique elements were delivered by Luna Park Sydney as additional value adds for the client that enhanced their brief but also served to utilise all the additional resources and partnerships the venue has to offer clients. Luna Park Sydney organised special water transfers for AALARA off-site events via Captain Cook Cruises, created in-house media booths within the park for the client, organised media industry invitation and press releases to assist in promoting the event, and also organised a VIP tour of the new ICC Sydney for international board members and guests.

“The feedback we have received… nothing but praise and acknowledgement to your delivery and professionalism… Without fail, everyone we came into contact with at Luna Park Sydney were amazing… I cannot recommend you highly enough”.- Kristy Ahrens, AALARA general manager.
